Near the West Michigan lakeshore community of Zeeland, Michigan, an ambitious all-volunteer crew restored a 1953 GM Futurliner. The restoration project took seven years (1999-2006) and was directed by Don Mayton, retired GM Plant Manager, under the auspices of the NATM (National Auto & Truck Museum), located in Auburn, Indiana. Joe Bortz, of the Bortz Auto Collection located in Illinois, donated the Futurliner to NATM. NATM owns the vehicle, but Don and the crew of volunteers restored it in Michigan.
