As dawn breaks at the Gilmore Car Museum near Hickory Corners, MI, nearly 350 cars line up to take their place on the AACA Grand National showfield. The Futurliner is still buttoned up and awaits arrival of the crew to wipe the dew off and bring her to life for display.

With a show field of the best of the best antique and classic cars waiting to be judged and looked at, visitors were steady at the Futurliner but never backed up.

The Gilmore Museum is an ideal setting for a car show -- big or small. In fact, the grounds can host multiple car shows at one time. The tower to the left of the Futurliner overlooks a paved oval track around which the show cars were parked.

In this spacious setting, the Futurliner doesn't dwarf anything. Plenty of room for visitors to enjoy the exhibits.

Unlike most vintage vehicles, we allow people to ascend and sit in the driver's seat for a spectacular view -- in this case, the showfield. The driver sets some 10 feet off the ground and has a great view of the road ahead. It's when the driver actually drives down the road, turns a corner or has to back up does he realize that his perch in the middle of the cab makes it nearly impossible to see the immediate area around the vehicle.

This is a shot of the current display set up inside the Futurliner. The display the the Futurliner model on it goes around and a video, which is just to the left of the uniform hanging up, provides some history of the Futurliner's role in the GM Parade of Progress. You can view this video by following this link.

This is a shot of the rear of the Futurliner. It's a very unique and stylish looking vehicle when you come up from behind it on the highway. The original designers were  looking create something that would catch the attention and imagination of those attending the GM Parade of Progress.
