The Futurliner is to be featured at the Iola Old Car Show in Iola, WI, July 7-9, 2006. To get it there from Michigan, the best route was straight across Lake Michigan via car-ferry; the S.S. Badger. The Badger sails between Ludington, MI and Manitowoc, WI. It has been in service since 1953 and was designed to handle rough seas and large cargo, such as railroad freight cars. It is the largest car ferry to ever sail Lake Michigan.

The word from Iola on Friday (7/7/06) was that there was a large crowd around the Futurliner at 7 AM when they showed up to open up the Futurliner and there was a long line to go into the cab all day long.

The Futurliner, loaded on the semi, is parked at Ludington awaiting loading aboard the SS Badger.

On lookers gather around the Futurliner for a closer look.

The Futurliner is being backed along the pier, along side the Spartan (another car-ferry), for loading on the SS Badger.

It's a long way to back up a semi with a large load.

The Futurliner is the last to be loaded on the Badger. It's a tight fit.

The semi driver carefully positions the Futurliner in the slot at the back of the car-ferry. It will be the first out when the Badger reaches the Manitowoc, Wisconsin port.

The SS Badger sails West to Wisconsin on calm seas.
