NEW POLE BARN FOR RESTORATION

In the Fall of 1999, Don had begun construction of a larger, heated pole barn where there would be more elbow room for working on the Futurliner. He and his builder had neglected to secure a building permit and when he finally applied, he found out that zoning limited him to the number of "outbuildings" he could have. They had to tear down what they had started and attach it to the existing building.

New/Old Pole Barn
In this picture we see the old new pole barn being erected on about a 90 degree angle to the existing building that houses the Futurliner. The new building was in violation of the zoning ordinance and had to come down.

New Poles Being Relocated
Shown here are the construction workers relocating the support timbers for the new pole barn. They would place new poles in the ground and lift the entire roof off the pole barn, swing it around and place in on the new poles.

Building Being Readied
Here we see the existing building being readied for attachment of the new pole barn. You can see a small portion of the Futurliner in the work-bay.

Machine Used To Lift Roof
This machine was used to "lift" the roof and relocate it in its new position.

Builder Connects Roofs
With the building relocated and attached to the current Futurliner work-stall the builders work at blending the two roof lines together.

Building Nearly Framed In
With the framework of the structure nearly complete, the new building will be sided, roofed and otherwise enclosed. A cement floor will be poured and then electricity, lighting, heating and other amenities added before occupancy.
