While we enjoyed hosting the Futurliner at Pebble Beach we couldn't help but savior the ambiance of the golf course and it's ocean side setting. A lot of history has passed this way.

From one end of the show field to the other, automobiles dripped with elegance. Styling, quality, luxurious, are but a few inadequate words to describe the presence these vehicles commanded.

Throngs of visitors and participants gathered to hear the results of the judging. It was lost on us, we were out of our league. How could you possibly pick one over the other. It had to be choice based on taste rather than quality. They were all exquisite!

Superbly appointed automobiles studded the 18th fairway. Each one with a rich history of ownership.

The mix of automobiles was superb. From elegance to contemporary, from fastidiously restored to remarkably original with all the warts of age.

Rare cannot begin to describe these one-off GM concept cars. They provided a glimpse of the future from the 50's but leave no doubt, even today, that they are futuristic in their concept.

Car after magnificent car -- one could barely take it in. Nearly each car evoked an "Oh, wow!" The show and the cars were like drinking out of a fire hose. You get a mouthful but most of it just blows you. You can't possibly take it in. But that's the draw of Pebble Beach, each year you come back for more.

Design elegance and manufacturing expertise are the thoughts that come to mind with this vehicle. To be sure, this is a show car.

Brute power -- in the range of 1,200 to 1,600 horses were the draw of these vehicles. One powered with a tank engine and another with a Rolls Royce airplane engine.

Our event director was Ed Devries (right). He spent quite a bit of time with a camera in his face and talking to dignitaries. Other than loosing a few towels for wiping down the Futurliner, the event went off without a hitch.

Car hauler upon car hauler filled the polio fields. With not much room to maneuver, we decided to just detach the tractor and run the Futurliner up on the trailer parked between the big-rigs. It worked like a charm and we all headed back to Michigan.
