At an AACA Christmas banquet, where all of the Futurliner volunteers were
invited to attend, a presentation of appreciation was given to Don
Mayton for his efforts in directing the Futurliner restoration
project.
Wes Myrick (right) makes the presentation to Don (holding the
award). The picture doesn't show it well, but all the names of the
volunteers were listed on the plaque.
Wes also made a presentation to Don of a Futurliner model on behalf
of the volunteers. This was the first time Don had seen a completed
model and had no idea that the volunteers were buying it for him out
of their own pocket.
Don poses with his model Futurliner. Each model is numbered. This is
#2. Number one will be at the NATMUS museum in Auburn, IN.
The model is heavy duty and functions in every way. The doors open,
the light bar goes up, etc. It's made of a heavy gauge steel and
quite well detailed.
