As a tribute to his hard work and dedication to the project, the crew bestowed upon Bud Dinger the title of "Designated Driver" and stenciled his name near the driver's door. It was a surprise and Bud shows his reaction.

Bud Dinger officially poses with his name stenciled on the Futurliner as designated driver.
(Note: Bud Dinger passed away in August of 2003.)
Like ants on a picnic, the guys are all over the Futurliner, working on a multiple of projects all at once. The most visible is the outside trim work but the engine is being installed and the brakes are being worked on. Evidently, about 40 new air fittings will need to come out and be replaced because they leak.

Looking along the right side the Futurliner.

The men are installing the aluminum ribbing on the right side of the Futurliner. This is the most time consuming of all the trim work and they now have over 50% of the right side completed.

Measuring and fitting are a time consuming operation.

Checking out the fit.

Stan Bowers checking out another fit.

Jerry, Don, Paul and Howard have been drilling holes, cutting rubber and installing fasteners for the left lower side rubber trim. Bud spent time cleaning the rubber strips as well as assisting others.

Howard, Connie, and Art worked at getting the front bumper to the correct contour of the front of the Futurliner. They also worked at installing a heavy duty fastening system to the front of the vehicle. Today they mounted the front bumper and then started the process of doing the finishing work.
